Scott C. Athen
Currently living in Columbia,
to where he moved in 1971, Scott has been a resident of the Baltimore-Washington
area his entire life. Mr. Athen owned a commercial grounds
maintenance company for almost a decade before selling the company to pay
for and attend college.

As a student at Elon University,
Mr. Athen served two years on the executive board of his college
fraternity, Pi
Kappa Phi - leading his fraternity chapter
to two national awards for philanthropic activities. Immediately
following his college career, Scott rode his bicycle over 3,700 miles
from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., raising money and awareness for
people with disabilities as part of PUSH
America (now known as the Journey of Hope). As a result of his
cross-country ride, Mr. Athen received the "A Thousand Points of
Light" award from President George
H. W. Bush. Scott continues to volunteer his time to the
Maryland Therapeutic Horse Program, a program that teaches the
physically and or mentally challenged to ride horses for therapy.

A mere two days following the
completion of the cross-country trip, Scott was sitting in his first
Law School classes at the University of
Baltimore School of Law.
While attending law school, Mr. Athen served on the executive board of
Sigma
Delta Kappa Intercollegiate Law Fraternity as a student, and then
on the executive board of the Alumni Chapter.

Scott was
a Charter Member of the Clarksville
Rotary Club (Rotary
International), and is active in volunteer activities that
benefit the local community. Mr. Athen is a 32º K.C.C.H. Mason in the Benjamin
B. French Lodge and in the
Scottish
Rite of Freemasonry, Southern
Jurisdiction. As one of the leaders in legal technology, Mr.
Athen lectured at the Maryland
Bar Association's Mid-Year Technology Conference, and
was published in the Maryland
Bar Journal.

Mr. Athen graduated from the McDonogh
School in 1988, received his Bachelor of Science from Elon
University,
Love School of Business in 1992, and then his Juris
Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School
of Law in 1995. Mr. Athen is admitted to practice in front
of the Maryland
Court of Appeals, and the United
States District Court for the District of Maryland, and a member of
the Maryland State Bar Association,
and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorney
Association.

When not working, Scott enjoys spending time with his family,
photography, going to
both Baltimore Ravens and
Baltimore
Orioles games, playing golf, and spending time fishing on the Chesapeake
Bay and in Ocean City.
