Point Effects
The Maryland Motor Vehicle
Administration maintains a point system for all moving violations.
The effect of accumulated points are as follows:

If the suspension or revocation of a license would adversely
affect the employment or opportunity for employment of a licensee,
the hearing officer may decline to order a suspension or
revocation, or cancel or modify the suspension or
revocation. If licensee is required to drive a motor vehicle
in the course of regular employment, suspension requires 16
points, and revocation requires 19 points. |

the interlock system for not more than 9 months |

a second conviction less than 5 years after the date of the first
conviction, or for a third conviction, provided the individual
maintains the the interlock system for not more than 12 months |

For
a fourth or subsequent conviction 6 months, provided the
individual maintains the the interlock system for not more than 24
months |
